Today’s day was full of ironies.
Congress, CPI, CPM, Trinmool Congress staged walkout in the Parliament because of BJP’s state and center Govts. inability to stop release of Masrat Alam, a Kashmiri terrorist. I am forced to recall the day when all of these parties brought shame to the Indian Parliament when during Amarnath Land agitation all these parties paraded their MPs in front of Kashmiri muslim seperatists. It was surprising that those MPs didn’t die out of shame the way they were treated by the seperatists at that time. Top that with the behaviour of that time’s Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, who personally called a known terrorist Yasin Malik, and requested him to break his fasting assuring him that all his demands will be taken care of! Link. The Prime Minister of a country calls on a terrorist who has confessed to killing Four unarmed Indian Air Force personnel, where does this happen! Where in the world does the head of a nation calls on a terrorist who has killed country’s men!
Another irony of today was Masrat Alam, the terrorist, asking press not to politicize the issue of his release! Here is man accused of murder, rioting, sedition, provoking people to fight against Indian occupation, etc, etc. And, you are not supposed to politicize his release!
On a side note, I am not happy with our Prime Minister in invoking Shyama Prasad Mukherjee’s sacrifice. Mukherjee laid down his life for a cause, and the current or previous BJP’s govts have done nothing for the cause for which Mukherjee was murdered in a Kashmiri jail.
